Why do people assume the ancient Egyptians were black?

Is it because we're arab, so they just like to discriminate against us? Look at the pharaonic paintings and you will see how light skinned they were. And why don't people also say the same for Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, all of these other North African countries? It's north africa so of course we're light skinned. Thats like saying why is the north of a country lighter skinned than when you go south. Why do you guys say that about Egyptians?

I for one don't know if some ancient Egyptians were Black people (Negr0id race)-or not. Today Egyptians are mostly Caucasian Arabs, though there is visible Negr0id admixture among some of the population and the far south may be a little more Black than further North but still mixed not full Black. Either way does I matter? How will ancient Egyptians being of the Negr0id race elevate the African-Americans of today?- if your only claim to fame is the achievements of other individuals thousands of years ago, then you need to look in the mirror and ask yourself what great things you have done personally in your own life, regardless of your race. I am White and don't care if the ancient Egyptians were Black Arab Mixed or other, its of no effect to me, but it does strike me as an inferiority complex among African-Americans (not Africans)- who feel a need to cling on to such an idea, because most of the great inventions we use today, came from Europe and some parts of Asia, that is a simple fact, but having been to a few African nations both Arab and Black countries, I met lots of people with great business minds and certainly ambition, and go to southern China and you will see the major urban centres peppered with Black Africans there on business, from what I can see, Black Africans get on with life and don't play the blame game, where far to many African-Americans just complain and don't get up and do something great. They use the N word daily and ask why the word is still alive in American society, things like this are frowned upon by any intelligent Black person.

Simply because they were black. Ancient murals show variations of skin tones. All of which occur in black pigmentation. But the ancient murals display predominantly dark skinned people. The false belief that Ancient Egyptians were white derived from slavery. Racist scholars believed that the only way Egypt was able to thrive was because Egyptians were "White". This became a hot topic during slavery and has misled people to this day. Modern egyptians look the way they do today as a result of conquering. The same way Amerindians are heavily mixed with european. looking at the murals alone, they don't look like any white people I've ever seen, maybe I should get out more..

Literally their only argument is that Egypt is in AFRICA, which means nothing. India and China border each other and are both in Asia, yet their people look nothing alike.

The next excuse is that Arabs/white people broke the nose off the sphinx and all the statues because they had black people noses. That's highly unlikely. It's much more likely the noses fell off because they were Caucasian noses and stand out much more than black people's noses, which are much closer to the face and are less impacted by gravity. Also taking a look at Greek and Roman statues, etc. you can see their noses fall off as well.

Ancient Egyptians were typical Caucasian North Africans, with white and black minorities living in Egypt as well. More black people to the south, bordering Nubia, and more whites to the north. Nevertheless, Egyptians are and were not majority black nor white.

Below is Caesarion (son of Cleopatra and Julius Caesar) and Cleopatra VII, both of whom we know were white. Cleopatra was a Greek, and Julius Caesar was Italian, therefore her son was also white. And look at their statues. Noses are also off, and they look like the sphinx. Ancient Egyptians were Caucasian. They weren't white, but they were Caucasian, with white and black minorities.

Arabs are from Arabia. Egypt is not in Arabia. The Egyptians are mixed. In truth, they do have black lineage, but when the Arabs invaded... Know history, there is a lot of it out there just wanting you to learn it.

I think the concept comes from a fundamental misunderstanding or willful ignoring of archeology. Archeological evidence indicates that ancient Egyptians were Caucasian- although they probably didn't look European.

The way I see it, that's not a good or bad thing. There are still so many fascinating sub-Saharan African cultures of that time period to study. And I find that Egypt is kind of overstudied anyway.

Take a look atwhat the archeologists and historian say: www.pbs.org/program/rise-black-pharaohs/

They acknowledged that racism has played a huge part in hiding the Blackness of the pharoahs...this is Rise of the Black Pharaohs..even removing two dynasties..be fair and:
