Why is it that hardcore thugs/rappers wear sagging jeans when it shows their butt?

Hi guys,

I was wondering how can hardcore thugs/rappers (who are usually homophobic) wear sagging pants/jeans when it shows their butt all the way? And I don't mean just to the tailbone but ALL THE WAY to where the thighs and butt meet? If it wasn't for underwear, they would be mooning the public.

I understand that the history of sagging has to do with popularizing a prison fashion and with the whole gangsta rap 90s fashion, but no offense, but that appears to be more "gay" than wearing normal pants?

It seems like a male-to-male "booty call" since don't gay males tend to overemphasize their butts more than straight males do to, right?

I hope somebody out there in the media recognizes this and puts it on blast.

for whatever reason they need to stop. How can you be hardcore with your pants around your ankles. How are you going to fight with one hand holding up your pants. It's illegal in some cities should be illegal in all. It is not cool and just looks stupid. If it's a prison thing, it should stay there, Saggin does not automatically make a person hardcore, wait a minute, yes it does, Ringling Bros, Barnum and Baily hardcore.

Sagging is fading anyway. However, the style originated from prisons where there were only a few pants sizes and no belts (as they could be weapons or used for suicide). The lack of sizes and belts led to many inmates having their pants sagging. This became popular with the rise of Gangsta Rap, which has a focus of themes regarding gangs, prison, and crime. The aim, fashion-wise, was to emulate how convicts looked. Also, some idiot tried to make some crap up about how sagging was used to identify prison sex slaves ("bitches"), which is false, as it really just tries to play the whole "it's gay" thing. Its more for fashion or a trend than anything. Now, in this day and age, its not that they are wearing over sized clothing anymore... They are still sagging their pants but yet they aren't touching the floor. I am in high school and there are people of all/many races in my school and most of them do in fact sag their pants, black or not. They are not trying to be gay nor are they gay or homophobic. Most boys who I've asked why they do it simply told me its comfortable more than anything, they don't want their pants to be hugging their butt. Even the boys (black boys included) wear skinny jeans and yet they still sag them... Sagging their pants is not as bad as it used to be, I rarely see any one showing their underwear when they do sag them. I''m not justifying it but hey...

Well Jack, if you open your eyes a bit more you will see that its just not "hardcore thugs/rappers" I have seen white, black, mexican, etc. doing this. Now I will agree its not cute and it never fails to make me laugh when they are holding their pants up running some place. Wear a damn belt!!!! No one wants to see your as* or underwear. i don't think it has to do with homosexuality they do it because they think it's cool. to me it seems like those kinda of guys do it to show other guys i'm tough because i can't see a woman being attracted to a guy with pants coming down his ankles. it's a phase for most. once they're in their mid twenties, that's going to stop. they're going to realize that it's not attractive. but these guys need male role models in their lives too.

it originated in prison because they wanted to be able to get their pants up fast so they wouldnt be caught having sex, so it really has a gay origin, it looks ridiculous and the guys have to walk with their legs spread apart to hold em up. glad my fiance doesn't do that
