Should out and out racist questions be aloud on Yahoo Q/A?

Having a point of view is one thing .And asking questions on skin colour ,race or religion .With the intention to learn .I have no problem with that .But everyday the relentless bombarding of racially motivated questions that people get away with baffles me..And what really gets me is the fact that you can ask something really really simple ,And get a violation warning .I've replied to emails from yahoo Q/A asking this but they do not reply.Makes you start to wonder what's on their agenda......Oh if i've spelt anything wrong that's not the issue

I can understand questions that are about learning about one another's cultures. We don't have to be insulting about it.



Having said that....some people just live and breathe on here to piss people off...like they get off on it or something.

I don't think it's a question of what's allowed and what is not ... it's simply that the platform is there for good and bad use as that's simply how human beings come. In this age of political correctness and pettiness .... I think we should take a mature attitude and simply ignore bad taste and inflammatory statements ... that's the adult way to deal with things. I mean, simply don't let it get to you. If we all could adopt the same level of maturity and tolerance, the world would be a better, safer and happier place. To prove my point, simply look at our world ... people are being killed everyday because of simple intolerance. And you are right ... education and understanding would go a long way to dampening that. It's all a question of power at the end of the day .... tell me .. what is the point?

Racisim is a nasty, brutal, ignorant thing. Should it be tolerated?



Freedom of speech is not only for those who agree with one another. If we censor one, the who will be next? The religious? The atheists? The liberals? The conservatives?



You have a right to an opinion, regardless of how ignorant it may be. The only exception would be speech that would incite riot or be proven to be the cause of violence and against the public safety. For example, yelling "FIRE" in a crowded movie theater or concert would certainly not be protected speech.

This is a legitamate question about the metropolitan police and extending the logic that brandid them racist.





and I got a notice that I am going to terminated by Yahoo. I believe this is unfair in that my question was deemed racist because I questioned a story in the news and tied it to an old story.



The Lawrence enquiry decided that the London ( Metropolitan ) Police were "institutionally rascist" and this offended many policemen and a wide cross section of society. The reforms then introduced have been seen by many as going to far.



todays official UK report says a greater percentage of blacks are in trouble with the law compared to whites.



I wished to explore the logic of the first and extend it into the second situation to show that I thought both conclusions were wrong.



For this I am going to "executed". What happened to free speech. May your God protect you.

Promoting hatred of other human beings is NOT "giving an opinion." It's encouraging others to hate as well. As far as I'm concerned racist views are no better that spam and garbage commercial advertising.



A lot of boneheads are going to pull the "Freedom of Speech" rant here to defend their intolerance but they don't even understand what Freedom of Speech means.



Freedom of Speech originally referred to people having the right to criticize their government and church without getting killed for it. It referred to Treason and Heresy. In North America it isn't "treason" to say your president or prime minister is an idiot. In some other countries in the past, you were executed for it under the crime of treason.



Neither are you burned at the stake anymore for saying God doesn't exist or that priests or holy men (oxymoron) are all pedophiles. People used to be put to death for that and still do, in Muslim countries, if you say anything against the religion. In Muslim countries, there basically is no freedom of speech.



Freedom of speech does NOT refer to S.O.B.'s encouraging others to hate people! Racists spread hatred and fear. They don't base their views on valid, proven information; they're just spewing some stupid, mean crap made up by a bunch of dinks.

Yahoo is a private company; it can do whatever it wants.



However, in my opinion, all questions that seek to actually ask something should be allowed, no matter the beliefs of the person. If they ask to make others know what they feel, though, or to harrass, etc., they shouldn't be allowed.



When someone asks "Are all black people evil? Because I think they are.", that's just their opinion, meant to stir people up. If someone asks "Why are all black people thug gangbangers? I've noticed there are a lot . . .", I'd say that's fine, although the person may hold racist beliefs and ask their questions assuming them, they truly are just misinformed and trying to get information. Then it's our jobs to set things straight.

The racial questions go both ways. I think that discussing race issues should be encouraged, while understanding that degrading and stereotypes are unnecessary.



Everyone learns tolerance somewhere, and if someone who is racial comes here, be an example instead of flaming him back. You can't change everyone into seeing it your way.



I don't think the executives at Yahoo are orchestrating a racial bias, and your presumption is silly to actually suggest that.

I agree that it isn't racist to ask are we allowing too many people into Britain. We are a small country with limited resources and often immigrants have crossed several borders to arrive here. It doesn't matter where they have come from or what colour their skin is. Our health service and education system are limited, When a question relates to the colour of a person's skin or their country origin then that is a racist question.

Depends what you mean. Give an example of a racist question. Sure, using racial slurs in your post is one thing but a question like 'Is there too much immigration into U.K. these days?' is a reasonable question but some people don't seem to think so. So it's difficult where to draw the line unless you just ban any question that strays beyond 'Am I pregnant?', 'I love my internet boyfriend' etc. which would be pretty dull.

Freedom of speech is just a myth. You may not like what people have to say but you should respect their right to say it. I don't see myself as a racist or anything but these people obviously have something on their minds that they would like to ask or share. You have the right not to respond to anything you find offensive as much as they have the right to say what's on their minds. I was in New Orleans a few years ago and there was this man standing on the street corner with a megaphone claiming that all homosexuals were perverts and paedophiles. I wanted to go and punch him in the face (and I'm not even gay!) but I seemed to be the only one who was even slightly reacting to this dingbat. Like I said before, you may not always like what people have to say but you should respect their right to say it or this so-called freedom of speech we all crap on about is just a myth. If people are proud of their ignorance, they should have a forum to express to us all just how ignorant they really are. We have the option to respond to them either in support or opposition of their position, or perhaps we could just skip over their statement. Give it a bad rating if you wish.
