it's better for the environment. biking produces like zero bad stuff. and like horses i'm sure their poop isn't that bad to the environment. cuz their cars and their demand for gas is making it difficult for me to drive gas guzzling cars. they should help the environment and not hog gas. it's driving prices cuz of the supply and demand.

Uh, this is a very complex issue. We could all go back to horse and buggies, but you are aware that animals need to be fed. That feed has a price and has to be raised on land that is probably being used to produce some other kind of food now so the prices for that food would go up because of scarcity. Using a horse or other animal may not be more efficient than an internal combustion engine in terms of $ per mile. Consider the price of hay and divide by how far you might expect to ride a horse on that bail of hay. Also consider how and where that hey is grown, are they using tractors that burn fuel? Are they growing grass for the horses on land that they used to grow rice? potatoes? Lettuce? Corn?

You probably won’t be able to afford feeding that horse and afford to buy your groceries any better than you can afford to buy gas for your gas guzzling cars now. Energy is energy and the price of it is going up whether it is in the form of fuel for your cars or in the form of food = fuel for animals and humans. It doesn’t matter how you transfer it, it is going to cost you.

I think most of them are ridding bikes or horses. It's the industrialization of China that's causing the price to go up. Think about all the oil used to produce all the toys and other goods that come from China. All that machinery and so on needs oil and gas in order to run. All the building they are doing, well think about all the oil that goes into the cranes and big dump trucks and on and on. What kills me is we are buying a whole lot of their products so we are helping to drive up the price of oil. Yet they make things so, so cheap that other nations and America can not make these goods and keep the price down at or below what they do. I say we slap an import tax on all goods from China and make them as expensive as American made goods of the same quality. That would help slow them down, who else is going to buy as much as we do? That would also help American made products which are usually better quality compete. You see what I mean?

Because horses poop in the street and bikes are dangerous to ride with all those cars on the road.

Good question. They do use bikes. You have to remember that China has 1.6 Billion people, so out of so many, whatever the fraction of car riders are, it's still going to be more than the number of people riding cars here. I can guarantee you that there's more people in China riding bikes than there is people in USA riding cars where here in the US it's only 300 million people, just a small fraction of china's population.

if you've watched 'an inconvinient truth', Al Gore said that the country that releases the most air pollution is the US, eventhough China's population is about 1.5 billion. cars exported to China from the US were sent back because it did not match up to China's enviroment..... policy or something... i forgot that word....

and they'll do what they want!

why dont you ride bikes or horses? i bet you'll be healthier

Why don't you ride a bicycle?

You can't say anything to me because I ride a bicycle and save the environment... unless It's far and then I drive.

Why are you using China as any example? Are you being racist? Though i agree...I think all the major cities should cut down on the current unhealthy methods of transportations.

I figure that pretty soon we all will have to go do that. assuming that we don't have to kill all the horses and other large animals for food before then.

Well, why don't we take a car from you? They need it to commute! For Business! Imagine how slow we would get supplies around the world if they did that!
But of Course
