Is my mom a racist? (kind of long)?

okay i am really upset right now and im about to cry
well my family is all white and i just went into my moms room and she was watching fox and all of the people cheering because obama won
and there were african american people crying and cheering and my mom was like

mom: "oh my gosh! stop crying."
me: "mom there happy"
mom: "are you just crying because one of your people are up there?"
me: "MOM! your such a racist"
mom: "no its just you dont see white people crying when a white person gets elected president"
me: "well thats because we have always been the president. You are the biggest racist."
and then i left the room shaking my head and starting to cry on my way to my room.
and its not just that
we live around the south bend area in Indiana
and she is always making racist comments about african americans and mexicans
and it gets me so mad because everyone deserves a chance and thats why people do come to america to get a chance
and i hate it when people say if you dont speak english go back to your own country
that pisses me off so bad. america is the land of the free! not the land of the friken land of the white racists who only speak english

sorry for unloading on you but
1. do you think my mom is racist
2. how do you feel about this
3. do you feel the same

Yes, your mother is racist. She's not likely to change her mind about minorities but the important thing is that YOU know what's right and you won't teach your children racism. I'm sorry that you have to deal with this. I did have some relatives that were racist and it bugged me to my absolute core.

I'm glad Obama won. I think he's the better candidate. I don't know McCain but he seems like a sincerely good person, but I just don't agree with some of his ideas. I don't agree with war, or almost anything else he believes is right. I don't think Obama is perfect or any sort of saviour but who knows? He does seem like he has the right ideas and the initiative to make some real changes. But I know for sure that almost every step or decision he makes will be harshly criticized, not only by racists but by people who expected him to be a sort of Messiah or saviour. They need to realize that he`s only one man.

I don`t feel the same as your mother. I believe that everyone deserves a chance, white or black, immigrant or not, disabled or able, etc. My parents are immigrants, black, and Muslim and I get really hurt when some people tell them to go back to their country, that they`re n*gg*rs, etc.

EDIT: Your mom might be denying that she's racist because the word "racist" is considered a negative thing by most people in America. It's common belief that it's wrong and many racists don't think that they're wrong. They believe that they're justified in their beliefs. I hope this helps you understand why she might be denying it.

It will be okay. Hopefully Mr. Obama will be successful as a president and your mother will have a change of heart. She's just angry and hurt, as Obama supporters would also be if Obama lost, but in time, those feelings should pass.

I just hope and pray that Americans everywhere can get back on their feet, back to prosperity, health and much happiness. I pray that better days are ahead, regardless of who won.

Well at least you know better than to think like she does. And you should tell her that white people have cried when their candidate won. Hell, people cry when their favorite American Idol wins.

I'm confused...I'm guessing she that by "your people" she meant Democrats? I'm not happy about the election results but that doesn't make me racist.

I guess I just need you to clarify.

Edit:

Oh okay. I kinda get it. I thought you said you were white, though. I'm assuming you're not. Yeah, she's a racist. Congratulations. I can't imagine how momentous this occasion is for you.

i think you answered your own question...and she's not my mom, she's YOURS, you have to love her, live with her and deal with her...just don't grow up to be like her

well if she constantly makes rascist comments most likely she is rascist, but that was how i felt tonight, its dispicable that its acceptable for someone to vote for someone just because hes black, like many of the black voters did

i voted for mccain, not because hes white, but because he was the better candidate
