It really depends on the circumstance:

If your parents were naturalized citizens BEFORE you were born, you are second generation (they being the first in the family to be Americans).

If your parents had you in the USA first, THEN became naturalized citizens, you are first generation (being the first in the family to be an American) - After they are/were naturalized, they are considered first generation as well.

You can say that you are the first generation born in the USA (like my husband).

You are a first generation American. It has nothing to do with when your parents came to America but is completely based on the fact that you are the first generation to be born here.

I believe so, actually yes! But in this screwed up society, you will always be a Cuban-American

Just as I'll always be an Italian American - 2nd or 3rd generation. Not sure because of my grandparents - 2 were born here and 2 came here when they were kids

The only time you become an American is when you have a gun in your hands and are overseas!

Because you (and presumably any siblings you may have) are the first generation in your family to be born on American soil, you are a first generation American. My parents immigrated to Australia in their early teens with their parents, but because they were not born here, I am a first generation Australian, and they are English immigrants. That's how it works.
Really?

First depending on when your parents immigrated. If they came as children/babies a case could be made that you're second. Having light skin has nothing to do with anything.

First technology American = An American's mum and dad born outdoors human beings, yet immigrated to US and grew to become US electorate, and consequently they're a "first technology" American interior of their kin. 2d technology American = Grandparents got here to the U. S.. 0.33 technology American = large grandparents got here to the U. S.. and so on and so fourth. the only "genuine" human beings are the community human beings. something human beings had an ancestor who had to come again to this land at one element from someplace else, Europe, Asia, center East, and so on. For some human beings, it advance into an ancestor who got here right here hundreds of years in the past, for some a decade in the past, for some only final 365 days.

You were born on American soil and your parents were not. Because your parents are not from here, and have no ties to the USA previously, they are considered immigrant Americans. You, being the first of the family born in the states, are a first generation American. congrats. :)

I would define your parents as first generation, so you would be second generation. Good question though. I am curious on how others will answer.
