I notice that their is only one mini cooper car club for southern nevada and ive bin thinking of joining it .We are in are mid 30's and not really the partying type.I would like to know if any one can give me moor info on this club and the type of people that are members. Not to sound racist but we are hispanic and the majority of our friends in Cali are hispanic we are shy and reserved people so this makes it abit tough for us .Sorry but im not looking for suggestions or ignorant comments just info on the club and its members..thank you..

I'm sorry that I can't speak for the Sin City club in particular, but MINI folks are some of the nicest and most eclectic folks that I've ever met. You get some kids who got a MINI as their first car all the way up to some hip 80+ year olds who bought the car for fun. You also get party people, shy people and everything in between.

I had no idea of the community of MINI people when I bought my MCS back in 2006, but I fell in with the Dallas MINI folks. The Dallas group has lots of different things for people to do or not do... happy hours, driving events, social events, maintenance/wrenching events, charity work, etc. I'd give it a shot and see what where your interests and the club match. If it doesn't work out, then at least you checked it out and gave it a shot.

I might recommend that you sign-up on some of the national MINI boards. I like www.motoringalliance.com... it's a great place to learn about your car, ask questions and make friends.

Good luck and welcome to the MINI community.

Tax depends on the engine size BUT your biggest problem will be getting insurance as because you are a new driver it will cost at least the price of the car if not considerably more. Get a quote before you even think of getting the Cooper as you are in for a BIG shock.

Great car, but not really right for new drivers. Insurance will cost more than the car. Look at Fiesta or Peugeot 106. to find something that you can afford to run and that will teach you how to handle a car before you go for something quick.
