Question:
What's some good black people music? I can't think of any right now.?

Please no rap, hip-hop, reggetton, pop or any of that music with bongo drums and people yelling at the top of their lungs slurring their words and using slang,

I wonder if they actually have any ballads, I dunno, something sentimental.

I wonder if there are any black people that play rock music. I heard somewhere that this type of music was heavily inspired by African Rythm and Blues, but I don't really hear them playing this type of music. How come?

You really don't care, you're just trolling. so why bother. You probably like the dark varieties of metal and live under a bridge.

Reggeton is NOT black music. Its a Latin type hip hop music that orginiated within the Latino/Carribean culture. Rap and Hip Hop is good music you just have to choose what kinds of artists you listen too. If you want real rap music, listen to 2Pac Public Enemy Bone Thugs, anyone in that catergory.

Black Americans are the creators of Rock&Roll music. Little Richard, Jimi Hendrix, The Isely Bros were rocking guitar way before Elvis knew how to even pick up a microphone to sing. But other than that, listen to some old skool R&B music if you want ballads and romantic music(which blacks have invented as well-Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson Stevie Wonder, Whiteny Houston etc)

Romantic black music? They do it better than we do i've found (certainly us irish!), but then i'm a sucker for sweet sensuous soul music...the greatest sex soundtrack you could find.

The classics

Across 110th Street - Bobby Womack

Sitting on the dock of the bay - Otis Redding (all his stuff is romantic in a way)

Let's Stay Together / Can't get next to you babe - Al Green

Didn't I blow your mind this time - The Delfonics

Trouble Man / Let's Get it On / Sexual Healing - Marvin Gaye

Walk on by - Isaac Hayes

I Believe - Stevie Wonder

I can guarantee you if you hear all of these (youtube em) you'll want to find more classic black soul

The only white soul that comes anywhere close is Bobby Caldwell's 'What you won't do for love'

Also, as far as black people doing great rock music - youtube (i'd link it but i'm in work) Robert Randolph and the Family Band - 'Ain't nothing wrong with that'...the version on David Letterman's show

Enjoy!

Yes, black people listen to rock music. And pop isn't only for black people. There are a variety of white pop artists. I listen to mostly R&B, Old School, and Motown. I also love Jazz music.

R&B/Old School/Motown artists: Luther Vandross, Al Green, Robin Thicke (he's white though), Boys 2 Men, Destiney's Child, Earth Wind & Fire, Fantasia, Jahiem, John Legend, Mary J. Blige, Franky Beverly, Jamie Foxx, The Isley Brothers, Anthony Hamilton, K'Jon, Heather Headly, Maxwell, R.Kelly, Shirley Murdock, The Supremes, Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, and Stevie Wonder.

Jazz artists: Ronnie Laws, Ken Ford, Randy Crawford, Joe Sample, Maceo Parker, Joe Sample Louis Armstrong, Kim Walters, Michael Franks, George Duke, and George Benson. I'm not sure if all those jazz artists are black though.

You're right. Black people don't have people that put out romantic songs. All that stuff put out by Barry White, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, BB King, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Diana Ross, The Supremes, Lionel Richie, or Boys II Men (to name a few) was never romantic or a ballad.

Silly Motown artists...

Romantic? You got Luther Vandross, Barry White, Marvin Gaye, Howard Hewett, and Ahmir.

Gladys Knight, Teddy Pendergrass, Dobie Gray, The Spinners, KC & JoJo, Dorothy Moore, The manhattans, The Temptations, The Manhattans, Well I would be here all day. Blacks really have it going on in the music department. I have a freind who is mixed. He says with his white family he is the best dances out of them all. With his black family he won't dance, he says he is so bad compared to them.

"...any of that music with bongo drums." You do know that's where most music derived from right?

We have plenty of ballads. Where have you been? Aretha, Luther, The Emotions, The Supremes, even EWF had ballads.

Jimi Hendrix is THE baddest rock guitarist ever.

You must live in some backwoods cave to not have ever heard of Motown, Soul, Neo-Soul, Doo Wop, the Blues, ect. . .

Instead of insulting us, why don't you crawl from out of your narrow-minded corner and expose yourself to our different genres of music. We aren't all about rap and hip hop, you simpleton.

Bloc Party is a rock band.

The vocal singer is from Nigeria, thus pure black.
