Why do Americans seem to hate the French?

It seems to me that alot of American TV Shows and such make fun of the French alot. Why?

Because the French actually have a brain and didn't support the unnecessary war we're fighting right now...........unlike George Bush and a large number of Americans.

only some Americans are like that. there are alot of us you know, it is a big country:) and as for tv we make fun of everybody even people with cancer so don't feel bad.....i have never met a french person, but my aunt went to paris and she said they were very nice to her.

Americans perceive the French as gutless cowards for surrendering to the Germans during World War II.

yeah i find that hilarious considering during the revolutionary war in the 1700s when amurka was tryna secede from britain, if it wasnt for the french, the british would have kicked amurkas butt. matta fact the british was kicking amurkas butt till the mighty french army joined in and helped them. oh well short memory eh ?
