There's no way that you're too stupid to realize that whites, (who make up the majority of the population) will support a white person playing the "watered down" version of black music over a black person playing black music.

NO ONE can be this stupid, I'm sorry.

In the example of bands for earlier times such as KC and the Sunshine Band and The Bee Gees, these bands were often funded better because they weren't African-Americans. The racial pressure in the years these bands were famous was so heavy that white audiences flocked to good music by white artists. And in the present, many of the artists you named have equally or more famous black competition. Eminem can't even be compared to many of the other black rap artists of today. Christina Aquilera can be compared to Mariah Carey or Alicia Keys (both of Black American descent). Madonna just sings pop, which isn't necessarily a "black music" genre, but she could never compare to Michael Jackson.

I think this just depends on how you look at it.

It's because of segregation back in the day. Many whites were not allowed to play music by black people in their homes, but record companies wanted to make money, so white artists imitated the black style, and whites loved it.

Today, there are tons of rich and popular black artists, so that is not the case anymore.

LOL at the little babies who do not even know who Eric freakin Clapton is! HAHA. So dumb.

Anyways, YOU are also dumb for not realizing that white people in this country are racist and hateful but have no qualms about imitating and raping those they hate. Yes, it has changed to a degree. But, you will still see that they want non-whites to stay in their designated 'playgrounds'.

'Okay Tyrone, we will LET you make money but you have to either be rapping, playing basketball, or performing on the street corners. Okay?'

TO CHIEF...you are in idiot by generalizing white people liking black music. By stating this excrement you solidified your idiocy from the get go. To the question asker.....By lumping eric clapton, the beegees, kc and the sunshine band and michael mcdonald in with "black" music, you also have crossed the idiot line. Define BLACK music, back in the 50's it would have been motown, 60's and 70's soul, 80's through today RAP, hip hop and RNB. Name me one eric clapton, beegees, michael ******* mcdonald, or kc and the sunshine band song that falls into this category? Also by emphasizing that a white person would be more rich makes you an ignorant racist trying to prove a mute point. Plenty of people who are white love soul and oldies and motown and rnb, and unfrotunately today suburban kids have been infected with this urban culture, so they like hip hop and rap. HOWEVER, I don't see the flamingos, the commodores, or isaac hayes performing on the TV these days. HENCE, people are more into white music because it ISN'T rap, or hip hop, which is a young persons music.

to DA BLACK X, again, you are a racist idiot.....watered down versions, give me a break. People listen to led zeppelin because they have talent jackass, and they are white, plenty of blacks listen to them too and they are by far watered down. So go water yourself down moron.

Jay-Z is the richest rapper, so there goes the rest of your argument. Also, Kanye West is probably one of the most well known rappers (not just because of rapping either)

Compared to whom? Who cares who is richer than who? What does it prove? What is your point (considering they "play black music")?

Are they really wealthier than black rappers, who don't play music of any kind? What's your point?
