Why is the focus on Whitney Houston's drug habit still so prominent even after her death but the focus on Kurt Cobain is his music when they both shared the same problem?

OK I'm white and here is my opinion. You hear about both having drug habits. You can look online and see pictures of Kurt Cobain's last moments alive. Laying on the sidewalk passed out. It is just Whitney Houston's death was not as long ago as Kurt Cobain's. Now with the news about her daughter, the media will of course dredge up Whitney's death again. Now at my age I was not into Kurt's music, but have heard he was talented from my sons. I did enjoy listening to Whitney, she had a beautiful voice. I think it is sad that they both died because of drugs. Drugs do not care what race you are, and focusing on race in these deaths seems petty. Two human beings died, I don't care what color they were, it is just sad. And I believe they should both be left alone to rest in peace. The media does not care about them or how it hurts their families, all they want to do is make money.

Whitney Houston was an amazing singer but she wasn't doing anything new. There are, and have been several singers of her caliber. She also didn't write her own sings. Kurt Cobain was a game changer. He ushered in the grunge movement, wrote amazing lyrics, and was also a musician.
Not to mention he wasn't on gossip shows on TV insisting he didn't do drugs, or that crack was beneath him. Cobain shunned the limelight, Whitney loved it, so her life is going to be much more subject to scrutiny.

Personally I think Whitney is remembered as a great woman who made many people happy . The universe knew her as that beautiful girl who sang Saving All My Love For You . She went wrong and her being a junkie was sensational , whereas Kurt was/is a different matter. So much mystery surrounds him and the manner of his death created a legend . Just my viewpoint .
p.s I hope Whitney's daughter has a happy ending.

Is it?
Kurt Cobain fit the model of several great musicians who also died young because of drug related problems such as Jimmy Hendrix, Jim Morrison or Janis Joplin. As for Whitney Houston she had a great voice but her songs/music were... meh.
