Teens of this generation are a LOT more brainwashed and 'soft' than they were 30 years ago +.

It is said correctly that the WWII generation was the last 'great' generation.

Today's crop of whiny little b*tches see 'Hardship' as not being able to get an iPod Nano 4th generation because they are sick of their 3rd gen.

Check out a doc called "Blood, Sweat, and Takeaways".

It shows British teeny-boppers shipped over seas to see where their food comes from and they have to live in the 3rd world and work the same jobs as those that fuel their lifestyle of waste.

Just seeing the girls cry because working at the tuna plant was "So hard and horrible" and a week's worth of work was what they would spend a DAY on chocolate back in the UK.

British teeny-boppers... Brainwashed American teeny-boppers...

They are taught that THEY are the center of the universe... That it is more important to fight for their school to ONLY serve organic food than to work on feeding the billions of people living in poverty across the world that would KILL to have what we throw away because it touched the floor.

Our current generation has become so out of touch with reality that some people won't eat food that "Looks like an animal". One of the people on the Tuna Episode of the doc I mentioned even said that she won't eat any food that isn't in the form of a processed patty that can't be recognized as being from an animal because if she thinks about it, it makes her sick.

When they hear the word 'Farm' they see the images of torture that P.E.T.A. says ALL farms are like... Sh*t filled torture chambers where evil men torture animals before turning them in to unhealthy food...

My generation and this generation TRULY believe the "Captain Planet" message that all corporations are out to rape the earth and destroy nature...

I'm thankful each and every day I realize that my independant study has allowed me to break free from this brainwashing nonsense...

I'm glad to see that there are some people younger than I that have not surcumed to the bullshit as well.

Not really. I'm sure past generations had the same feelings - thing is that kind of stuff wasn't on the media or clumped all together on Y!A. The internet made the world a smaller place. Besides, its not like kids are born like this. More like raised. From not just parents but the media.

I'm 18 and I totally agree with you. I won't into a long drawn out description but I will tell you that I wholeheartedly agree. You're one of the dudes with his head on straight, I'm tired of being hit on by drugged up looking guys and creppy older men and "gangsters" w/ those hideous *** grills I wish more young men were like you. All I can say is ignore the ignorance around you, let them be gangster and on welfare and such, its their lives, not yours, continue to do what you do.

I'm 15 and think a lot of us these days are rude, inconsiderate, conceited, etc. I'm not a conservative person,or someone who is really old fashioned. I just think the way so many teens act is just despicable. Well, I disagree with what you said about rap and hip hop being a bad influence. I've definitely heard more violent and angry lyrics in rock/screamo/metal songs than rap and hip hope. R&B isn't even in the same class as the latter two. There's lots of artists from those genres who actually have messages, but unfortunately a lot of them are underground and aren't played on the radio. It sounds like you're blaming everything on the music, which isn't fair because there's an argument for saying rock does the same thing...I don't even want to get into that. It's a touchy subject.Originally, rap and hip hop put women on pedestals and would be called queens instead of h0es.R&B is very different from the two of those though. I like everything but country and metal, just to let you know.It sounds like it where you live that's the style. Where I live,I'm surrounded by a mix of preppy people, gangsters (which is funny...I live in a middle class town, but having gangs in my town is kinda laughable),some emo people, and a bunch of other groups. You sound like you would fit right in at my school, but then again everyone hates my state for some reason. It's kind of a cop-out to worry about your future just because other people are like that. I could say the same thing, but honestly, where you grow up doesn't always determine what your future will be like. It sounds like what you really need to do is connect with more people from your school. Obviously, you'll find a girl who is more your type. I can't believe you said that.People grow up and mature past high school,so the girls will probably change >_> If not? There's someone out there for you. Grow up and ask for welfare? What the hell? I'll pretend you didn't just say that. You make it like you're some minority in a a black neighborhood where they hate you, haha, sorry,I'll be serious.

Honestly, it has more to do with the way people discipline and raise their kids. A lot of times, people treat their kids the way their parents or grandparents treated them,no matter how much they try to end the cycle. It's almost inevitable sometimes.

What the hell is wrong with your town if everyone is acting like that? I'd say something, but you'd probably think it was mean,so I won't say it.Anyway, stop making it like you're the only normal teen left on the planet. There's plenty of us who are respectful and classy people.

In fairness to the despicable and insolent teens, teens like you also piss me off. You think everything is to blamed on the style of music and the media is to blame. Excuses, excuses, excuses. Never forget the way people are raised!

I guess I'm a bit of a misanthrope,so maybe my opinion isn't really valid here...

Damn,this is long -_-

Thank MTV and media for that. I don;t think the mainstream media has-ever had such an impact on kids in previous generations than today.

You do seem like a really smart and nice person for being one person I now know that's realizing this. I won't complain or say many things negative because I personally feel like that would be ranting, but yeah I can see that you're very right. In fact, research (I think) has shown that violent music like heavy metal and rap and other songs with violent lyrics (e.g. "guns," "death,") can possibly make someone have more violent thoughts. There are a lot of wannabes out there that just try to sort of "put on a show," listening to all this music and dressing all these clothes and being very vain. But sometimes they could do it for a reason: they probably aren't feeling secure, and they worry like you do about not getting someone, so they'll do anything so they won't get themselves feeling left-out.

I myself do listen to a little R&B (not rap), but mostly alternative, rock, and upbeat music like "Say Hey" by Michael Franti & Spearhead or "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz. . . . That was really off topic, but hey you mentioned it earlier :)

Hope I helped, but if I didn't, hope you at least got your best answer, and get a decent girl that's not a wannabe. ☺☻

I'm only eighteen and I'm disgusted with the way "my generation" behaves. Ladies are not ladies and society in general is in a downward spiral ... ! Promiscuity is accepted, binge drinking is accepted, getting pregnant at fifteen is accepted ...

It's not just the youth though, some of the adults are a bunch of scum too. Pub brawls are on the increase, it's far more acceptable to cheat on your partner than it was years ago, and the sex industry is so celebrated and funded that it disgusts me. It is, after all, an industry that abuses grown adults, children, and animals.

Either way, this generation of teenagers are easily influenced whiney babies who think they have it hard because their parents won't buy them new clothes or a ticket to see their favourite band. I love the amount of kids who walk around thinking they're "tough", "streetwise" and "mature" when in reality they just HAVEN'T got a damn clue.

They have to be doing everything that their friends are doing instead of developing their own identity. They need drink and underage sex to make things interesting because they have absolutely nothing of any substance in their lives. Sickening, is all I can say.

Parents are more and more slack on their kids in terms of rules and boundaries, and I have read in a few articles that we are "breeding a generation of narcissists". Children these days are over-praised and under-disciplined, hence why they have such a sense of entitlement and talk to their parents (as well as anyone else they encounter) with so little respect. My kids are going to be spanked, my kids are going to have unbendable rules and I don't care what anyone else thinks!

You seem like a really smart person and I think the hard part about getting away from how you are feeling is the fact that you are in high school. You do, fortunately live in a very diverse area (surrounding Westminster) and once you get a little bit older, or even now if you can, socialize outside of the people from high school, you will find there are some decent people out there. You just have to keep focused on you and take your time sorting through the people you feel are worth keeping close. As for teens today, I don't really want to speak too negatively about them because I understand their need for attention and self-expression. I see some decent ones at times....and you seem like one of them. :) Good Luck....
