HOLD ON!! Don't spam me with hate without reading what I have to say.

I read about a theory from an old historian that celtic people were more ******* compared to Anglo Saxons and other people from Europe.

This got me thinking that when I look at people who consider themselves Anglo-Saxon and those who consider themselves Celtic, they do actually look different.

Anglo Saxon people seem to have sharper features and a more white look about them.

Celtic people seem to look rougher and have a lack of sharp features... and I guess kinda *******?

This is what the guy was writing about, don't get angry at me!, Im wondering what others think? If you are someone of Celtic decent then don't answer because it will be biased obviously...

The people in the celtic areas of the British Isles, Wales,Cornwall, ireland and parts of scotland tend to be much darker haired than people of 'germanic' extraction. However, this dark type is found throughout the British Isles including in England (which is not nearly so 'anglo saxon' genetically as was once believed.)

Interesingly though, the Romans described the celts (of Europe) as fair or blonde. however, they sais the welsh looked like 'Spaniards.'

We now know that the british/Irish celts are not even closely related to the celts of central Europe. Recent dna testing has shown instead that they are closely related,as much as 93 percent in some cases, to peoples from Iberia, especially the Basques, so the Romans wee right, thousands of years before dna testing!

The first peoples of Britain came from the basque region over 9000 years ago, after the Ice age, followed by neolithic farmers from the near east. the commonest dna type is R1b and blood type O, the oldest typ. Germanic people are more R1a with type A blood (which again shows that the English aren't particularly that 'anglo' as they have more R1b and O, just like their celtic cousins).

The old theory you read sadly was invented to somehow 'back up' the oppression of the celtic peoples that occurred particularly in the 1800's, by making them out to be somehow 'inferior.'

Interestingly anyway, ALL europeans are pretty close together on the genetic scale having been descended from only 9 women! All types are found in pretty much all countries though some are found more in one region than another.

I consider myself Celtic....... Anglo......... Irish......all coming from the British Isles which was at one time invaded by Rome (Italian) Vikings........ and at one time had a large influx of Spanish and Portuguese and now Muslim immigrants....... So I call myself Irish..... but I think the Celts were the oldest known inhabitants of the Isles......... at least that we know about.....before that there was the Cro magam man so I guess we are all mutts
