The Icecream Man, Rap stands for:

Rhythm
and
Poetry.

There's no poetry in repeated stanzas that don't make sense.

Didn't you ask this? In the exact same way? Or are you copying of that other guy? And soulja boy didn't kill hip hop/rap. There were plenty of rappers like Soulja boy back in the day. Like, Digital Underground? Aren't they real hip hop? Come on. Dude's lame but he didn't kill rap.

LOL at the Ice Cream Man. That song was stupid too....

Souljah Boy...I don't even know what the hell that boy is talking about.

But -- no, Souljah Boy didn't kill rap.

There's always been a few bad apples but these days...as much as some have tried --- there's just no balance. It's an entire movement of idiocy and non-talent.

That child is just a part of it. Although...I do respect the entrepreneurial and marketing skills of thes ppl. I like that folks are finding ways to create wealth. But at the expense of the music?

Of course, the consumer plays a part in it. They purchase the crap and prop these non-vocal skills having 'singers' on a pedestal....and these artists are all too happy to lay blame.

Guess it's easier to deflect than take ownership or admit that they're presence 'pollutes' the craft.

There aren't as many legitimate talents...and the talented ones can't be heard because they're not raunchy or selling garbage. This is true for singers, especially.

I haven't listened to rock in ages so I don't know who is who anymore but I do like some of these female country stars.

That lil blonde country singer from American Idol can sang her *** off.

Anywho, these days I just listen to jazz, old soul music (70's early 80's)and classical music. F*ck all this other b*llsh*t.

Beethoven's Symphony 9 in D Minor (the choral)?

Now THAT is 'music'.

you have lost all respect for rock music? thats a laugh, there isnt even a such thing as good rap music anymore, killed by these mainstream idiots like lil wayne and soulja boy

yea i know besides underground, but at least mainstream rock still has some backbone, some actual dignity to it with good artists who dont say ***** every 5 seconds and add a few curse words to make up a song

dont compare rock with rap, because even back in the day rap had nothing on rock and its all the more true today, without rock, there would be no rap

I agree with Kelli's statement "Rap isn't dead...just covered in BS at the moment" that's true and I think most mainstream rappers are very capable of putting out better rhymes. It is just the record labels that control the lyrics and music video.

Rap is poetry put to beats and like every other type of music, its a way to release emotions. Sometimes the lyrics are graphic and vulgar, true, but others like Blu and KRS-One and Nas etc are intellectuals.

rap and most rock died. I like metal.

metal is still alive because it does not take as much profit so its musicians don't become sellouts.

ALL music was better in the 70's, 80's and 90's.

Black people make other types of music you know...

i know wat u mean.that song "watch my shoes" is stupid and pointless.there are way more important things.and i get why ur bringing in race.mostly black people listen to it bc exactly how many white rappers do u know?1.white people who like rap music are often accused of trying to "act black".it's racist and annoying.
2009-09-06 04:29:32 UTC
Reason why older rap music isnt selling is because no one buys it..I myself perfer todays rap as opposed to the 80's and 90's gangsta rap..

You're ignorant. Why should you bring race into this?
