I'm haitain and i really hate being that, i don't know why it something that i've been dealing with. I just can't stand that's where am from, is it too harsh to say that. Like everytime someone would ask me where am from i always tell them i dont like like telling people where i from and i never told them. Am too ashamed to, ifeel like they might look at me differently and judge me because am someone who hate when things like that happen i get really sad and which also why i have low-self esteem.

Your answer means alot thank you.

Why ? Everyone knows that Haiti is the poorest country in the Western hemisphere and so what ? what difference does that make to the people, i know a few Haitians, normal people just like anyone else from other poor countries such as Bangladesh or Moldova in Eastern Europe.

What has really surprised me is the number of rich privileged people who live in a country that is supposed to be so dirt poor, now isnt that something to make you wonder ?

I watched a documentary about Haiti two years ago, I couldnt believe how the rich get the best beaches to play on while the poor are sectioned off and cant get on those same beaches as the rich people-wow.

Stop hating yourself. I don't know Haiti, but I lived most my life in Georgia, so I kinda get where you're coming from. The rest of the country looks at Georgia as housing a bunch of backwards racists who don't use toilet paper. (I'm not racist, and I do use toilet paper.) Anyway, go ahead and give yourself a hug; away from your homeland, someone has to show you love, and that person should be you.

And if anybody judges you for being from Haiti, obviously they're a nincompoop unworthy of your time.

It is always wrong to be ashamed of one's roots; every country has its flaws, but as negative as some countries might be, you never have to feel ashamed of where you come from because there are good people everywhere and Haiti is no exception. Just because a country is poor, that doesn't mean its people are bad or inferior to anyone as in fact they are not. You should always be proud of who you are, and to those who look down on you, you should show that pride. You are welcome.

Yes, that's pretty abnormal. It would also be abnormal to be overly proud of it. Just accept yourself for what you are and live your life.
