Hello! Brony here, so let me be the first to apologize for their behavior if that's true (it's the Internet, one can never be positive of anything anyone says without evidence :/ ). They give all of us a bad name. But I assure you, they do not represent the majority of us. The majority of us are just your typical guys who happen to like a certain cartoon. Admittedly, we are mostly on the geekier end if the spectrum, but the VAST MAJORITY of us are not perverts or freaks or anything. In fact, most are straight and only in high school or college. How do I know these things? Because there have been legit studies done on us before. See the following for all your brony demographic needs: http://www.herdcensus.com/ .
While I agree with you that what they did should not have been done, or at least handled far better, there are a few things you should keep in mind about bronies in general:
1. Judging people based on their appearance. Not a good lesson for the kids.
2. Assuming age determines what you can like. Adults have always liked cartoons and children's things. The large followings and socially acceptable liking of not girly cartoons like Adventure Time, Regular Show, Gravity Falls, Avatar, 90s cartoons, Hana Barbera, Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, and Disney/Pixar movies all prove this. Of course this point only vaguely applies to you since you're more concerned about the creepy aspects of us.
3. My Pretty Pony (the forerunner to My Little Pony) WAS made for boys and girls: http://missapplessoda.tumblr.com/post/54935441225/i-asked-bonnie-zacherle-the-creator-of-the-my
4. Lauren Faust, the new version of MLP that bronies like's creator, intended for the show to be tolerable, if not appeal to adults who'd be stuck watching with the girl of the house, and was surprised but overjoyed at the existence of bronies, as was the rest of the show staff, DHX Media, The Hub, and Hasbro, so much so that they've given us explicit shoutouts, like so: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTPqjKk_xCo (the shoutout is near the middle) So if they can love and tolerate us, why not everyone?
No, those guys shouldn't have been so arrogant about it, but they are not us. I dare you to find a group in the history of all society that didn't have its bad seeds to ruin the good name of the rest. So please, in the future, judge people on their character, not their appearance. And then don't judge all people who look like or have similar tastes to them as them because everyone's different (these are basic lessons too many people lack, yet bronies get made fun of for liking a show that reminds us of it? Ugh.) Sorry for babbling, but if you want to know more about us, I recommend you look this over real quick: http://www.whatisabrony.com/ or just look at this poster: http://doggonepony.deviantart.com/art/Illustrated-Guide-To-Bronies-391706941 Again, sorry for taking so long here. I hope I helped clear things up. Have a nice day!
