Why are women such haters!?

Okay so I've been working a couple of weeks in this retail store, and apparently doing a pretty decent job since they offered me a full time position at another store (I had to turn it down because I'm returning to school out of state soon). Anyway, a lot of the girls who have been here since the store opened talk behind my back about how I'm doing something wrong (because helping me or showing me the right way would be totally out of the question!). I've only been there for a few weeks and I'm part time! Wtf! I try to be nice and talk to them, but they always have an attitude everytime I even look like I'm going to open my mouth. Yet they cluster over in their little corners like some bs highschool clique gossiping about their boyfriends, how slow I am (I've overheard some things to this extent), and the managers. Its so annoying! Like today for example, a customer was complimenting me to the asst. manager about what a great job I did in helping her. She was all sweet to the customer, than rolled her eyes towards the other girls, mumbled something in spanish to them, and they all broke out laughing. This happens a lot, even though I'm following the rules, doing what I'm supposed to be doing, helping out, etc. Customers seem to be responding well to me, so idk wtf their problem is! And then there is this guy at the job that started working around the same time I did. Apparently I'm forbidden to talk to this dude or whatever, because we started talking and one of the chicks came over and gave him a huge hug mid-convo and started glaring at me. I mean seriously?! Are we in high school here!?!

As a side-note, not that it matters because I don't think this is a race based incident, but just a sad case of women being haters, I'm Black, and the guy and the girls that I'm talking about are Spanish.

First of all let me tell you, it's great that you're not letting them run you out of there because obviously that's what they're trying to do. Hispanics are really racist, look at the caste system in their culture it's disgusting! There could be a million and one reasons why they're jealous of you, but most likely because you're getting compliments from customers and getting offers to work more hours. Look on the bright side, you're only there part time and you're returning to school soon so they aren't people you have to like or get along with.

This might not be race-related so much as it is job related. Whenever there's "fresh meat," so to speak, people get really paranoid about hours. The fact that you were hired bugs them and if you do a good job, you might get some of their hours if they don't perform as well as you do. I've had that happen before. Heck, one time I went in a store and had two different associates tell me the store wasn't hiring. It took for me to go to the manager who told me they most definitely were hiring and to apply right then and there. Some people, especially women, are catty in the workplace.

We as women tend to have a jealousy side towards one another. It's almost instinctive. Whether it be to how pretty another girl is, all the way to what brand of shoes she has on. I'm personally not a jealous person, and I've had lots of haters before. Especially when I was in school. My only advice is to ignore them. Pretty soon they'll see that you aren't giving them the response they were looking for, and they'll give up.

Yeah, obviously their race matters to you or you wouldn't have brought it up. Maybe you're just jealous.



But seriously though, just because people don't like you doesn't mean they are "haters". I hate that lame a*s word. They don't like you. Maybe you move too slow or just don't fit in with them. Get over it, you're leaving for school soon. Stop thinking everyone is "hating on" you.
