How Are People Racist, I've come upon a Few But How?

When I was little I attended predominantly white schools, not because better education, or fear of my own kind, but inner city schools were overpopulated and had lower test scores, so I attended suburban schools for a while, I did attend a Immersion school here in Wisconsin, which is thought to be the most racist state- untrue. Anyway my first grade teacher failed me because she claimed to have gone through a tough divorce, where her kids were being split up (my mother contacted school board), my second grade teacher had a melt down because I would sit up right, so she drug back my chair and attemted to push over my desk but it fell on top of me leaving a black bruise and lump on my forehead. She claimed she took medication for depression of some sort. My third grade teacher down right avoided me at all costs, my fourth grade teacher bought a story about me biting a girl when I didnt even touch her, I actually rested my head on her shoulder and said "boo!" She sent me to the office when a group of white girls were bullying me, thats when I screamed "you always have to believe them over me!" I loved the German language & culture but that wasnt enough to take the harrassment.
So I attend this new school where right now my teacher is beyond the field of racism. I've visited community churches full of whites who stared us up and down for the entire sermon. An extremely good friend of mine told me that she wasn't allowed to attend my birthday party because I was black, and her father was racist. My associate claimed that she couldn't date her boyfriend because her mother was racist, and that her black friend weren't allowed in their kitchen!
I just dont understand! How are people racist, my family is a large melting pot, with Jews, Germans, Bajans(Barbados) and African Americans, I except all of them, I just dont understand how a race would think their superior to others, racism was supposed to be gone years ago! I hate that for some reason I cant hate a person without knowing them, and everybody can, it seems a bit childish, but I dont understand at all! How do racist people feel that makes them hate a minority or ethnic group in general?

We're all human. None of us are perfect. We all hold some sort of prejudice. Some people who are racist just have it in a extreme form and take it to a higher level. You said your family is a melting pot, but other peoples families are different some more like a salad bowl or less diverse so their thoughts will be shaped by the way they were brought up. I think this is why I don't tend to wonder about racist. I don't let their hatred or thinking i'm less than for something I had no control over, effect me. It simply doesn't matter to me. I know they have their reasons valid or not and that is good enough for me to just be like whatever.

Wow, I haven't any proposal. But that does not sound like ordinary racism. Typical racists depend on stereotypes to justify their irrational worry and/or hatred, and are regularly particularly proud in their ideals and certain in their possess race's "superiority". What you've looks to be a few form of actual mental phobia. I haven't any proposal what would have triggered it. You must by and large seek advice a therapist. Phobias are extensively irrational fears, and the truth that you appreciate your worry as irrational is a step within the correct path.

Darling ...there should be a handbook on how to live in a white supremacist society, You have to understand whites live in an atmosphere of superiority , some can handle the privileged and don't go all blade runner on minorities, but for the ones who were raised either poorly or abused and neglected, tend to abuse their status as first class citizens are bend this reality and just focus on African American perceived inferiority... To make a long story short, you've been lied too. Yes you have to work twice as hard as a African American to get half as far, but you also need to watch out for the nutcases who take there advantage as being of a privileged majority to the extreme making minorities perpetual targets.

I think the reason we can't end racism is that folks tend to deny or condone racism. In the midwest, racism is more aggressive than any part of America, its more open. There is very little, close to nil justice for blacks that are subjected to racism. The resources from the government are for European immigrants, NOT African Americans. African Americans are to be exploited at any and all cost.

What you are talking about is discrimination. Anyways, an individual is free to choose who he/she wants to associate with, and in the case of minors, the parents decide. So by law, you aren't allowed to discriminate based on race for commercial activity, housing, hiring, etc. This violates the principle of freedom of association and autonomy in order to enforce integration. Yet, a person can still choose who he/she associates with on a personal level. It's pretty much individual preference.

As to the question of why someone would choose not to associate with blacks ~ they pretty much have a bad reputation preceding them or people have had negative personal experience with black people.

Look at it this way ~ kids basically form cliques in high school based on what subculture they identify with. Is that offensive? Say I don't want to hang out with Episcopalians because someone told me they are evil. It may be a generalization, but if I then choose to act on this and avoid them, it's my personal choice. Am I an anti-Episcopalian?

people want to live with their own race and culture. People prefer it. the other race is irrelevant.

you are not a melting pot.. you are mixed race, you were probably taught that it doesnt matter... that race has no value... thats a LIE.

it does matter, you dont have the same sense of community and it makes no sense for other people to just "stop" valuing what they are because you cant.

to expect other people to devalue themselves is YOUR racism.

@jazzy

we are the human species. there are different races. keep your hate/ self-hate whatever the case, to yourself.

Bob is an idiot and a racist. Did you know white nationalists and neo-nazis have lower iqs? I guess they don't have the ability to think critically they rather just stereotype.

5% of all black people are in jail compared to 0.7% of whites. Statistics show you are more likely to be a criminal than other races so people dislike you.

Yes I am an idiot. Actually my information is based on prison statistics, 5,100 out of every 100,000 black people are in jail. You just threw out some random made up statistic. My IQ is actually very high.
