Question:
Becoming a Freemason?

I have read a great deal about Freemasons on the internet. I am very much interested in bettering myself and doing goodwill. I also have read that Freemasons are seldom unemployed as fraternity brothers look out for each other. This sounds like a pretty good fraternity if you ask me.

I am a Zen Buddhist. From what I read the only rule is I must believe in one GOD. Well, as a Zen Buddhist have no deity. I might look at the supreme being from a different point of view than others. I do not think this will be a problem. How about you?

Any experience with Freemasons?

I am a software developer by trade. Are there many software developers that are Freemasons?

I am looking for answers from people that are, or are related to Freemasons. Most of what is published on the internet have already (Wikipedia, etc). If you know of a less well known site, I am interested in the link.

Buddhism is an accepted faith in Freemasonry. Buddhism is very close to Freemasonry as in they both teach a form of enlightenment through knowledge and betterment. Buddhism does have a form of "higher being" in the respect that as a living being we can and will become a better being. As you have said "I might look at the supreme being from a different point of view than others," as do I.

As long as you truly believe, TRULY, in such a higher being you are more then welcome to become a Freemason. But do not confuse what I say, there is no place for the belief of many higher beings. Budda taught that it takes many life times, and many lives to become close to perfection, and as we may become human one day then we may have reached that pinnacle, but we will always strive to be better.

Freemasons come in many shapes and sizes, as do our careers. Most Brothers are older, but there are still many who I am sure are software developers.

I am an eastern star( sister org to the masons) and both my grand dads are freemasons (prince Hall affiliated). The are lots of different affiliations that are freemasons with their own set of ideals or interests. Yes, freemasonry as a whole does believe in ONE GOD( the term God is being used as a HIGHER Power--not just a christian term), but I am sure that some affiliations uphold that, and some might not care. I suggest finding a local lodge (freemasons building) and asking one of the doorkeepers for more information. I would suggest getting to know them first before joining, i would give this advice to anyone trying to join ANYTHING, not just for prospective freemasons. You obviously want to join a lodge where you like the men in it, not just the fraternity, the members of the lodge make a difference as to how your experience might be. Do some research on the different affiliations too, and see if you can find out the difference in ideals and membership requirements. The Top 3 affiliations I can name are Scottish Rite, York rite, and Prince Hall. Prince Hall affiliated masons, the one I am a member of, are predominately black, as this was founded to allow African Americans the opportunity to become Freemasons and eastern stars. I will tell you though, if you are not a religious person, masonry is probably not for you. Our organization is founded on a lot of things in the Christian bible and from what I have seen so is Masonry. If you are just interested in networking, to widen your prospects for employment, try joining a more public organization that targets your ideals. oh, one other thing, depends on the lodge, some only intake members that have SOME type of birth rite or family affiliation.

I wish you well as you TRAVEL for enLIGHTenment:)

There are Buddhist Freemasons, that is a fact, but Buddhism is something of a sticky wicket because the the belief system is something an average monotheist, Christian or otherwise, often cannot quite grasp. The hard-line, letter of the law assessment is that a member believe and have trust and faith in a supreme, supernatural, Creator of all the universe. Interpretation can vary as to whether on not this necessarily means this must be a deity per se. Short answer is that individual Lodges will rule differently from one another on this one... it will require you to investigate your local Lodges to get their points of view. Personally, from my limited knowledge of your faith, I see no problem, and I'm generally known to be pretty old-school on these matters.

I know 2 software designers who are Masons, both presently unemployed. It is true Masons will help each other out when they can, but honor does dictate that Mason or not, you hire the best man for the job, so your hopes of secure employment based only on being a Mason are misplaced... That is not the scope and purpose of true fraternity.

i'm a Freemason. you may desire to touch your community hotel or Grand hotel and as to connect. they are going to then instruction manual you in the time of the the remainder of the technique. actual you may desire to be 21 (18 on occasion), have a thought in an exceedingly suitable being and characteristic a valid ethical character. to some different responses: * we don't invite human beings to connect, you may desire to ask. * there has by no ability been a connection between the illuminati and the freemasons * we at the instant are not a secret enterprise * based on the standards you could locate we at the instant are not evil * many of the suitable minds, artists, leaders, etc. have been freemasons; in case you, as Billy B exhibits, are gullible, grasping and unconscientious, then you definately does no longer make a reliable freemason and can be denied, he's erroneous on all counts.

What you have read, and what you understand are different things. Here is the real story.

To be a freemason you must be a man of legal age, of free birth. You must believe in a supreme being, and Buddha counts.

You MUST ask to join.

Freemasons come from ALL walks of life, from all over the world, and are equal in freemasonry.

You can contact me off line if you want to chat... I am a freemason and have two college degrees in the history of Buddhism :)

Buddhism is a complex one, all things are impermanent... but the religion itself doesn't really focus on the theological issue of creation (did someone create everything or not). One could presume that the Buddha held some belief that there was a creator, however ignored this as that creator was perhaps not involved with the world we live in (there are many Christian groups with a similar hands off understanding of God)... the Buddha's concern was "how do I help people end their suffering in this endless wheel of samsara?"

All that said, there are many, many Buddhists who are freemasons. The masonic requirement isn't that there is someone sitting on a chair who created everything, but rather that there is a supreme being (spirit/force if you will?), something/someone responsible for all of this.

this is a point of contention with religious intolerants who claim freemasonry is against God because of this, but there is little you can discuss with an irrational fanatic so i tend to ignore them.

You can make money in binary options only if you treat it as a real form of investing. Learn here https://tr.im/xBJl5

This means learning how it works, learning how to read charts and learning how you can make accurate predictions. All these are not that difficult but it takes some time. If you treat it as gambling and just make random predictions then you will obviously not win.

Freemasonry does not have a singular thing you can join. You must be contacted.
