Do Americans find more things offensive then Brits?

Only asking because on their TV I think they're not allowed to swear and we can swear as much as we want.
PS: If you think I'm bringing "race" into this and find it offensive please do not answer. I'm really not interested.

The 3 major US networks don't want to upset their advertisers so the programs are quite sanitised. The advertisers don't want to upset middle-America who are traditionally very conservative. They want to keep them happy so they keep buying Coke etc.
Pay TV networks such as HBO, who produced Deadwood, have virtually no censorship in comparison and feature series and movies with nudity and swearing. This is because they do not carry normal commercials and instead get money directly from viewer subscriptions.

Actually. in recent times it has completely switched. Nothing these days can be on British t.v. without getting at least one complaint and a lot of the new American prime time t.v. shows are quite edgy and risky and they swear quite a bit.

Have you been to the UK lately? The level of political correctness over there is staggering. Heaven forbid some group or ethnicity get offended. It's unfortunate and sad.

we have tons of offensive things on tv, but slurs like the f word and c word are not allowed. but our television shows do touch on a lot of controversial things.

Wow. You can't swear on American telly?
I think it is because Americans all have lawyers. They'll sue if they feel the slightest bit "offended".
