“American History X” is the first movie to pop into my mind. Edward Norton’s character is really offensive at first but makes a complete total transformation. After that, he has to fight for his life, his brother’s future and his family because of his new beliefs. The group that he had been a part of for so long wants to destroy him because he now opposes them.

The old Dennis Hopper / Kiefer Sutherland movie “Flashback” is a comedy about the chaos caused when non-conformists with conflicting agendas come together. Personally I like “American History X” better.

A book that comes to mind is “Catcher in the Rye”.
